[/b]I was treated for hep c (geno 1A) for 68wks. I was supposed to go 72 wks but just couldnt make it---- the depression got to bad. I've been off chemo (interferon & rebetol) 4 mos. now. All aspects of depression and mood have worsened. I feel dead in the morning. I have no interest in anything. It feels like my child has died everyday. I'm suffering every day. The zoloft, remeron, cymbalta, & other meds don't even touch it. I seriously don't know how much longer I can take it. I put this in Gods hands, but to this point I still have no relief.
I'm seriously losing hope as it seems to be getting worse than better. I'm desperate but don't know what to do. PLease help me.

Hi there,

I just read your post today and my boyfriend is in a similar situation. He stopped interferon therapy in November 2007 and has found the depression the worst he has ever experienced. It is October 2008 now and its getting worse. Can you please advise if and how you got relief? Thank you.

Hi Chris,

I went off Interferon last February and was extremely suicidal afterwards until about a month ago. I made no attempts but wished God would take me. I also had concentration and memory issues and lots of anxiety and nightmares while on it. I went to the emergency room twice in a week having panic attacks and back pain, both of which I had never had problems with before. Then I checked into a mental hospital for a short stay but declined the medication after leaving. I have gotten better without it since but it takes a long time.

The best thing I can tell you is to hold on and find that little part inside you that still has hope. Things WILL get better and the depression will fade, but it takes time. Almost a year for me, as well as a friend from work's bf (who also went off early bc of anger and mood swings he had never had a problem with before).

It is my belief that you will get better.

One of the best things for me was joining the Y and swimming and taking some classes after being sluggish and fatigued and achy so long. Time with friends outside and not thinking about how this has changed you is good. You will come back stronger from this.

Also, if you are religious read Psalms 23 through 32, and try to meditate.

A good thing a friend told me to try repeating to get into the zone is

Remove this negativity from within me
and around me.
Free my spirit from fear
and confusion.
Bring back love
strength
and happiness.

I will pray for you. I know how horrible and hopeless and alone you must feel, but there Are others who are in your predicament and gotten back to feeling full of life. I hope this makes you feel better.

Namaste.
