Irregular Periods and trying to get pregnant

Hi can someone help me, I have been trying to get pregnant for a couple of months. I have irregular period since teens years. Crying or Very sad I was expecting my period this month on the 10, but I never know when Im going to get so I thought I would get 11, 12, 13 because if I dont get it the 10 it goes to the 11. 11 goes to 12 and so on. But nope did have not got it. I took a pregancy test today and it came out negative. Do you think I might be pregnant. Should I not let my hopes up.
