Irregular bleeding while im taking the pill, what could this be?

Im 17 and on the contraceptive pill, and have always had regular periods ever since i was 11 when i first started, and that stayed the same when i went on the pill, which i started taking 2 years ago. I have been taking the pill as normal, but today i suddenly felt out of nowhere that i was desperate for the loo, i went to the toilet and a load of blood came out. What could this be? Im not due to come on my period for 2 weeks yet.

Sometimes this does happen to my girlfriends. They are always saying that this happens.. but its nothing serious. its just how there pill works i guess.. i do know that you ovulate in about the middle of the first day of your period to the last and there may be small bleeding within those days.. but if it is large amounts of blood, i would go talk to your doctor about it just to be safe.. he may want to put you on a different pill to see.
