Irritation/Swelling/Dryness of the Vagina

Hi. I've noticed everytime I'm on my menstrual cycle that my vaginal area get's irritated and itchy. Is this normal? It always happens...

Also, I just got off my cycle yesterday and my vaginal area has been quite sensitive as of late. I was examining myself and noticed that my labia majora was a bit swollen and the skin was dry.

I've looked up yeast infections and it doesn't seem to be the case. Can anyone help me?

I just got my annual exam in Oct 06' and got tested and they all came out negative so I don't think it's anything STD related.

I also just started taking Ortho-Tricyclen Lo after my annual exam.
