|

| Hey everyone. Ok, this is something that has been plaguing me for quite some time now, going on 8 months now. For some reason, back when I was dating and sleeping with my GF at the time, I developed a redness on and around the head of my penis. Thnking this was nothing but chaffing, I didn't worry about it. Eventually, it got worse and spread all down the shaft and was red, itchy, scaley, all that stuff. That part has all gone waway (the dryness, itchy, scaley part) and was deemed by my dermatologist as a case of eczema. But threw the whole time, this swollen lump appears on the left side of the urethra opening. It hurts like hell after ejaculation, making sex an afterthought. I do try to masturbate a bit just to keep healthy, but afterwards it still hurts. I had gone to my urologist to find solutions. STD's were negative, and he did say that for some reason, the skin is swollen around the entire opening and could be caused by the previous infection. He said that it is not a worry because there is no cyst-like bumps, the glands are fine, no burning/bleeding at all. But I dunno now. It has been too long now and it just remains the same. I do not have multiple sex partners, I am circumsized, I am basically healthy. Any ideas? I just want the big guy back to normal. In hind site, the best way to describe what is going on is the area surrounding the opening of my penis is red and swollen, and part of it looks like a lump. Almost like the inner tissue of the urethra is coming out too much. My erections and all that are fine. ANy help would be appreciated. (By the way..I haven't had sex in 7 months) |

Hi! Has any of your doctors considered urethritis? Have you had urethral smear done (or whatever it is called?)
I had the redness around my glans, itchiness, and it would hurt sometimes during urination. I was sure it was bacterial infection or an STD although my girlfriend had no symptoms what so ever.
I went to see an urologist who took the swab out, boy was that an experience! I wouldn’t wanted it for anybody but it appeared to be a necessity.
Luckily I had no STD’s and urethritis seemed to be caused by spermicides from condoms or different lotions and creams my girlfriend and I used to use.
Are you sure this isn’t eczema as well? |

| Yeah, I know it isn't eczema. The Drs. both think that it is something left over from the eczema infecton. Urethritis huh? Gonna have to check that out. Never thought about that.... |

| OK, well looked into urethritis. It doesn't appear to resemble anything I have seen thus far, cuz it is not leaking any fluid, pus, mucous..just stays red and inflammed. Kinda goes up and down. As I stated, very visible with an erection. Again, its almost like the skin is sticking out too much or something. I dunno. Anyone else have any suggestions? |

Ive had similar problems... in my case I got gonnahrea from receiving oral sex and had that treated... only symptoms I ever had were irritation at the opening of my urethra and some red skin on the under side of my penis... this was 18 months ago... ive was treated promptly for the infection but the symptoms have remained.
In any case... just to clairify a few things in your case...
Eczema isnt an infection... its basically your immune system over reacting to something... probably the lotions/creams you mentioned using. The is not bug that causes it and no cure to get rid of it... unfortunately.
Urethritis is an inflamation/irritation of the urethra... when its accompanied by discharge its usually a bacterial infection or STD... but any irritation is urethritis. So id say thats what you probably have... the question is... whats the cause and how do you treat it.
Here are a few causes (hey ive went to alot of doctors trying to solve mine) lol.
Urethra Stricture
If theres an infection sometimes it causes scaring and the scar tissue present constricts the flow thru the urethra causing pain when things go thru it. For this to happen you would have likely had to have an infection (not just eczema) at some point.
Prostate Problems
its possible that prostatitis (a prostate infection), inlarged prostate, etc. can cause problems in the urethra.
Yeast
Yep, guys can get the little fellers too... especially if you have had long courses of antibiotics. I actually had this once after a 30 day antibiotic course... it took me weeks and 2 different doctors before a dermatologist of all people (she was a female) thought of yeast and treated for it... gone in 24hrs once treated.
What kind of treatment did you get for your eczema? |
