|
|
Hey there,
Mum is 54 and she had epilepsy for more then 15 years. She was treated and cured. But now, I would like to know if epilepsy is hereditary and what are chances of getting it. What are symptoms of “early epilepsy”?

Hello,
Epilepsy is hereditary, but do not stress out, it isn’t necessary for you getting one. If talking in numbers, there is approximately 20 % chance you get epilepsy. “Early signs” are stress and anxiety, but tell me if there is a person today that isn’t under stress and it isn’t anxious from time to time. If you get a seizure, you will know for sure it is a epileptic seizure. Do not worry, just avoid alcohol and drugs (they stimulate epileptic seizures), also avoid flashing light (for example like in discotheques).
Best wishes in future and try not to be focused too much on epilepsy!
