I am suffering from irritating cough that does not let me sleep at night. This is all a consequence of the lung illness I have. This all started so lightly, but now it got very, very complicated. I have pneumonia now. Doctor told me to use Noscapine, since it is made of opium, it should help me. Is Noscapine safe to use?

Yes, it is true that it is made from opium and that fact could make you doubt its use. But, it efficiently deals with coughing. It comes from the group that Codeine belongs too, but does not have the same effects (does not produce euphoria, tolerance and addiction). It does not create sedation and breathing depression which makes him a lot safer to use.
