It is very hard for me to speak of the embarrassing problem in my family. My mother has some problems at work and was advised to take counseling. We live in small town and psychotherapy is connected with mental illness. How true is that and can it help to overcome her problem?

Psychotherapy usually is connected with mental illness but it also can help with the emotional issues and is nothing to be ashamed of. Life is all the more stressful and the way your mother copes with it surely affects her work environment. Be happy that in such a small community there is this positive policy where the employers care for the wellbeing of their employees.
