Is Psylium seed to be used by patients with fecal impaction?

My sister has a problem with chronic constipation. She could go for a week without the urge for defecation. In those moments she has to take medications. As a consequence of her condition, her stool is very firm which complicates her life even more. I have heard of Psylium, that it might help her. Is Psylium seed to be used by patients with fecal impaction?

Psylium, I hope it might help her. It has fibers in it that cannot be digested, and their ability to absorb water is the main thing that should help your sisters condition. Intestinal movements are activated and fastened in this way. This stimulates defecation and also softens the stool. Perhaps this drug could help, but I would not advise her to use it without a consultation with a doctor.
