I am 55 years old and my doctor suspect that I have problems with my thyroids. I should go to check for the thyroid hormones. It seems that I have hyperthyroidism. So, I would like to know Is blood work for testing thyroid hormones expensive? Also what else I should know about it?
You should know some things. First thing you should know that blood testing is expensive and it can be painful. It can be around $60. The saliva testing is better then blood testing. You can do it at home using the kit that is mailed to you. Saliva may be more accurate in measuring the levels of the hormone of the tissues.
