I’ve been suffering from hemmorhoids for about 10 years now and none of the medications I used-helped.
I suffer from internal and external hemmorhoids.
I used several types of local crèmes and I’ve been on several types of diet but-my symptoms are just getting worse.
My doctors said that surgery is maybe the only cure and he scheduled me in week from now for surgery.
I was hopping someone can give some information about the way operation will be performed and how much time will I spend in hospital.
Any help is more than welcome!

I can tell a few things about hemmorhoids surgery because I had one, six months ago.
Operation can be performed in several ways depending on how serious your hemmorhoids are.
Choosing the way of operation mostly depends of localization of your hemmorhoids.
If they have a lower anal localization-then surgeons can perform an anal approach which is much better for patient because of small scar.
But, if hemmorhoids are located deep in rectum then surgeons must approach through abdomen and perform intervention called laparotomy.
This approach is much more unpleasant, it last a little longer and the scars are much bigger and visible.
But in both case you’ll pay a small price for a fact that you’ll be cured.

hi there... all i can say is that external surgery is very very painful. i just had my surgery last week about 5-6 days ago. you may have problem w/ your bladder, not able to urinate for a few days. u probably will need to go to the ER if it happen. it will be very itchy around the rectum area, the wound, and even maybe the vagina area. u will need to call your dr to get medication to get rid if the itch. overall the day of the surgery, i went at 6am and discharge at 12pm. it depends if the hospital allowed u to stay longer if u cant walk or for whatever reason. u will not able to sleep because the pain hurts so much. your buttcheecks will twitch (squeeze together) and u will feel the worse pain ever. its because the muscle need to relax and it havent yet. i dont know how long this will take. my dr said it may be from 8-14 days of the twitching. everytime it twitch, i will need to squeeze my hands or hold something for the pain. it is very painful. i dont think i would recommend to do external surgery. if its that bad, then i guess u can go for it and just suffer like i did. but its really up to u. if i knew it is this bad, i probably would not do it. hope this help...=)
