Is hypertrophy of labia minora normal thing?

I too have larger labia minora and am considering the surgery...however, it is pretty expensive and im sure health insurance wont cover it...so im not sure. I am just worried that it is abnormal and that guys will be turned off by it. I also feel that may be one of the reasons I have yet to have sex....since I'm so embarrassed by it. And the fact that im 22...yikes! any suggestions?

i had the surgery and my insurance did pay for it so i dont know...but i think its worth it. at least in my opinion....i hated mine and tried to get used to it but couldnt so thats y i had the surgery

hey! im also 17 and i have labial hypertrophy aswell. i was always like embarrased by it and it made me feel uncomfortable, like if i went comando it could get in the way when i walked or when i ride a bike and stuff it just hurts. im going to get mine cyrgicully removed. but its not abnormal, its actually very common, more than u think! but if it makes u feel uncomfortable and u dont really like it, get it removed! Smile its ur choice.

firstly thank you so much for posting this and for the great response. i hvae had this for what must be two or three years and i was scared to death that it could be something serious. i'm too afraid to tell my parents but maybe once i move out or am 19 i'll see my doctor about it.

people need to be more open minded and not so self concious...i dont understand y are u afraid to tell ur parents about this? if u have someone really close to u that cares about u...its better to let them kno its botherin u...better then keepin it inside and u always could get advice...
