Is it possible to contract trichomoniasis through water?

My gynecologist told me that trichomoniasis can be contracted from water, soap or even toilet paper as well as through sexual contact. Is it true or it definitely transmits through sex?

The thing is that most common transmission occurs through sex and from mother to a baby.

Very rarely a person can get it through soiled towels, baths, and jacuzzis.

And you never can contract it from toilet seats, kissing, or sharing utensils.
