I am currently 2 months along in my pregnancy and have recently found out that I have gallstones. They have been causing me alot of pain and vomiting. The doctors want to do surgery to remove them, so I was wondering if it is safe to have them removed being that I am pregnant. I was also wondering if the not getting the gallstones removed would be dangerous for myself or for the baby. Please let me know what is the best solution and to help ease my worries. Thanks.

I was 30 weeks pregnant when I had my gall bladder removed. My son was born in January 2006 and he is doing fine. I had no complications and neither did my son. He was 9lbs. 6 oz. and very active. It was very scary, but I was given great care. It is a little overwhelming at first because there are so many doctors involved and in the room, but you do feel very taken care of.
