| My mum told me yesterday that my dad has a problem with plaque in heart arteries. She assured me that it’s nothing dangerous, that he would take some medications and everything will be ok. Still, I’m worried. Please, tell me Is it serious to have plaque in heart arteries? Thanks! |

| Well, it doesn’t need to be dangerous. Everyone starts to develop some amount of atherosclerosis as they grow older. The plaque can make the artery narrow and less flexible. If it’s happen, blood flow to the heart can slow down or stop, causing chest pain, shortness of breath, or even stroke and heart attack. |
