| I had the white patches and my doc said use a waterpik to clean out. It worked great, I started feeling better right away as the putrid tonsils were cleaned right out. I also did 4 weeks of amoxicillin. |

This is a reply to Lynnie. You have no idea what you are talking about.
I have suffered for several YEARS with tonsil stones, and I eat a pretty healthy diet. It does not matter WHAT I eat, or WHEN I eat it, because I get them on a daily basis.
Yes God put them there for a reason, but I'm sure he didn't intend on me living a life of daily "tonsil picking." Nor did he want to cause me the stress of having to worry about it.
My tonsils are incredibly large, with incredibly deep crevices. It's almost impossible for food to NOT get stuck there.
To everyone else...I have yet to mention this to my doctor, as I just discovered this was my actual problem a few months ago.....but I would like to just have my tonsils removed. The removing of the stones has become almost an every day nuisance and it really causes me stress that I shouldn't have to deal with. It's embarrassing, and disgusting....
Will my Dr. tell me to just gargle? Or will he refer me to an ENT? I can truthfully say I've tried everything to keep these things from coming back...but it doesn't matter. No matter what I eat, no matter what I do...I always get them. I want them removed. Will they do a tonsilectomy simply for my reasoning of WANTING them out?!!? |

| This is a rely to Guest. I feel for you as I too have been suffering from stones for several years, even to the point where I taste blood from scraping, scratching, and squeezing my neck. My stones are deep in my throat rather then visiable on the tonsils. I went to an ENT and was told. "What's a pretty girl like you doing here about your throat, I dont see anything". Three years later I am still suffering. Remember its more then you just wanting your tonsils removed, you are suffering. Tell them what you want and if they want do it then call a differant ENT. |

| I used to get these all the time when I was younger, but a doctor gave me antibiotics and they went away for 8 years. I started getting them again a few months ago. I went to the doctor, and she just said it was a virus and would clear up soon. A week later the white stuff was still there so I dug it out with a nail file that has a sharp hook on the end. I managed to get it out, but it left a huge hole behind. I got them a few more times and I used a few different techniques each time to pull them out. One time I used a medicine dropper to suction it out (which caused a lot of bleeding), and another time I used a Q-Tip. I was getting so fed up of making my tonsils bleed all the time so I told my dad about it. He told me to rinse with a mouth wash such as Listerine to prevent them from coming back. I was doubtful but I figured I had nothing to lose in trying it. I bought some Crest Pro Health mouth wash, and started rinsing twice a day after I brushed my teeth. I'm happy to say that it has been a month and I haven't had a tonsil stone since. |

ok so i have that feeling of a popcorn kernell in the back of my throat. and when i opened my mouth this morning and i guess kinda like forced my throat muscles out i seen this white nasty looking thing pop out and then go back in a crevese. I got scared, and grossed out!
alot of you talk about coughing them up and/or removing them yourselves. but mine doesn't seem to be wanting to go anywhere. I'm a little afraid to poke at it myself. i dont want it to start bleeding. and i'm afraid of swallowing it. it makes me wanna gag just thinking about it.
i was planning on making a phone call to my dr. in the morning because i had no idea what it was. but should i call the dentist instead??? sounds like a better option to me. maybe they can get rid of it with the water pic!
i hope this never happens again! this is the first time this has ever happened to me. and its disgusting. by the way i tried touching it with my finger and then smelling it...but it doesnt really smell. |

I get these stones too!!!
They are real bad for me and cause me to get sick often. I have found there are 2 holes that the come in. One set of holes can be seen on the right and left side back from your teeth. The other set is right in front of the first set but there is a flap of skin that hides them. If you pull that flap back a bit you can find a hole that goes downward.
I use a pimple popper tool to get them out. This tool has a nice hoop at the end that can reach right in to the hidden holes and dig all of the white stones out. But I have not figured out how to get the ones out of the more viable holes that are on the right and left side of the mouth
I just want them to go away! |
