Is phobia related to anxiety disorder?

Is phobia related to anxiety disorder? My friend complains that just because he expresses weakness at certain situations in life he should not be treated like he’s having some mental illness and I agree. But his rising fear of speaking in public and in front of new acquaintances can certainly be considered phobic.

Phobia and panic disorder are anxiety disorders and they are the most common of mental health problems and very often mistaken for weakness or self-indulgence. Although many believe that it’s “all in one’s head”, these disorders should be dealt with more seriously. CBT or cognitive-behavioral therapy is a good way to start treating this problem.
