Is psychotherapy enough for panic disorder treatment?

Hello! I have a friend who suffers from panic disorder. At first she only felt racing heartbeat and difficulty breathing but when similar situations occurred again she started to feel fear of dying. She started to see her psychotherapist but no significant improvement happened so far. Is psychotherapy enough for panic disorder treatment?

Hello! The psychotherapy is a very important component of treatment for panic disorders. We can say it is equally as important as medication treatment. But, I don’t think it is enough. Many researches showed that combination of psychotherapy and medication is more effective than either intervention alone.
