Hello. My friend was hospitalized yesterday since she had gained second degree burns. I would like to know whether these burns are serious. I am very worried and I guess that they are not easy since she was hospitalized. What do you think? Thanks for all replies. They will mean a lot to me.

Hi. Second degree burns are definitely more serious than the first degree ones. Beside epidermis, they include dermis as well. They can be superficial, which are considered as easier, but there are also deep second degree burns. They are more serious. It also depends which areas of the body are burned and how much it is in percentage. Infection is also another danger that is possible to occur. In this way, a lot of fluid can be lost, so fluid resuscitation is a must! It is good that your friend went to the doctor’s. I hope she will be all right.
