Hello, my mother has just been diagnosed with semantic dementia last week. It seems that her condition is getting worse day by day, she does not speak normal at all and it looks like she has problems recognizing certain object and what they do. Is semantic dementia treatable in any way?
Well, I have bad news, because senile dementia cannot be treated. It is a specific type of neurological progressive illness and all that therapy can do with medications is slow down that developing process and perhaps subdue the symptoms to some certain level. Unfortunately, that is all doctors can do.
