Is surgery only treatment for conductive hearing loss?

My wife had a lot of ear infections when she was a child and, as a result, she has problems with her right ear. I asked some doctors and they told me she has conductive hearing loss. Is there any way we can avoid surgery? Is there any other method for curing this?

Treatment for temporary or reversible hearing loss usually depends on the cause of the hearing loss. Once hearing loss is identified, further treatment depends of many things. Conductive hearing losses can be treated with medication or by surgery. For example, antibiotics can be used for infection, blocked ears can be cleared and damaged eardrums or fused ossicular bones can be repaired by surgery.
