I would like to know something about the causes of chronic lymphocytic leukemia. My father had CLL, he has been diagnosed not more than a month ago, he is 53 years old and I must admit that I am not only afraid for him, but for me too. I just hope that there will be a long time before he has to start with his treatment.
I will tell you that period with no symptoms sometimes might last for a lifetime. That said, you can be assured that your father will lead a normal life for many years. As for genetic cause, I should mention that DNA string in B cells is damaged and that is the main cause that leads to CLL. And also, this illness usually affects man, so you should be fairly safe.
