Hello! My daughter’s friend suffers from eating disorder. She has told me she takes some medicines to improve her condition. When I asked her if she visited a psychologist she said she wasn’t since her doctor told her there was no psychotherapy for eating disorder. I am confused. Is there a therapy for eating disorder?
Hello! Of course there is a therapy for eating disorder. A team of specialists which usually consist of a psychologist, nutritionist and a physician decide on the therapy according the individual condition of the patient. Individual psychotherapy, group and family therapy are important part of the treatment. The medicines are sometimes involved in the therapy since many physical complications can result from an eating disorder and have to be treated.
