Is there a treatment for albinism?

Hello, folks. My child has been diagnosed albinism. He was born several days ago. I know that this is a genetic disorder, but I would like to know whether there is a treatment for this condition or not. What will my child’s options be? I will be very thankful for all your replies.

Hi, there. You are right. Albinism is a genetic disorder and there isn’t a cure. Your child will have to wear special lenses. He will need annual examination with an ophthalmologist. Surgery of optical muscles can be recommended by an ophthalmologist. It will minimize nystagmus and make some smaller vision improvement. Skin is also something which will need special care. Exposure to the sunlight must be limited. You should talk to the doctor about all these issues. Bye!
