Hi! My mother has vascular dementia. It’s very hard for me to watch how she’s suffering. Also I’m worried about me and my sister. Maybe we will have this disease one day. I’m wondering Is there a way to reduce risk of vascular dementia? Please, can somebody give me any advice? Thanks!

Yes, you can do few things to prevent stroke and vascular dementia. You should control high blood pressure and lower your cholesterol. Don’t smoke, exercise regularly and try to manage stress. Eating a healthy diet also may help prevent certain types of dementia because a deficiency in vitamin E, the B vitamins or folic acid may increase the chance of developing dementia.
