Hello! My brother used to be very healthy man. Few months ago he started to feel weak and tired more then usual. He lost his appetite and started to lose his weight rapidly. He was feeling constant breath shortness and suffered form dry constant cough. His diagnosis is idiophatic pulmonary fibrosis. Is there a way to survive idiophatic pulmonary fibrosis?
Hello! You and your brother should know that there is no cure for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Also, you should understand that the symptoms may get worse over time. Also, ongoing medical care is very important which should be planned by a pulmonary specialist who specializes in IPF. Unfortunately, survival is three to five years from diagnosis. Your brother should follow a healthy diet, get plenty of rest and maintain a positive attitude.
