Is there another name for beta-blockers medications?

Hi, guys. My mother suffers from high blood pressure and she was prescribed a beta-blocker by her doctor. I have heard something about beta-blockers before. I wonder whether there is another name for these medications. I would really appreciate your info on this. I am not a medical expert. Thanks.

Hello. Beta blockers are medications that are used for many conditions. As far as I know, they are also know as beta-adrenergic blocking agents. They are mostly used for cardiovascular diseases. Those are hypertension, angina pectoris, myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, etc. Some of them are used for congestive heart failure. They can be also used for diseases that are not related to the heart and blood vessels. Those are hyperthyroidism and some anxiety disorders. I hope I've helped. Bye!
