Is there anything a thalassemic minor shouldn't do?

Hi, I'm one of the many people who have thalassemia minor. I was wondering if there are food or substances that are harmful that need to be avoided. I'm basically curious about the do's and don'ts of this blood disorder. Also, is it true that people who suffer from thalassemia minor have livers that are larger than an average person's liver?
