I am a single mom and i have a three year old daughter-- we often sleep in the same bed, she does not like to sleep alone. She is happy and healthy, and she does not seem to be hindered by this at all. I am curious if there is any evidence that this may hinder her in the future? i dont want her to feel like she always has to sleep with someone-- is there any age i should be firm about keeping her in her own bed??

Honestly in my opinion, you dont have to be firm about it. I have a 2 yr old that still sleeps well kinda with me and her dad. her crib is right next to our bed. and every now and then she will end up on our bed when she rolls around. but i slept with my mom until i was about maybe 11. and i turned out fine. my mom left it up to me when i was ready to sleep in my own bed in my own room. i am a real mamas girl though. i am now almost 20. and i am still real close to my mom. my mom was a single mom too. well my dad left when i was about 5 or 6. so yeah. i dont see nothing wrong with letting your daughter sleep with you. if thats what makes her comfortable. but me and my boyfriend talked about when to put our daughter in her own room. we figured probably when shes a little older. proabably when she hits elementry school. but who knows. first and only child (well for now!! ). it will be hard when you and your daughter decide its right. i imagine!
