Is there something like antidepressant discontinuation syndrome?

Hi, I am 34 years old male and I am using antidepressants for almost a year. I was talking with my friend yesterday and he told me that I have to be very careful when times come to stop with my therapy. I would like to know if there is something like antidepressant discontinuation syndrome.

Hi, yes such syndrome exists and it is connected to ssri antidepressants. When your doctor decides that you dont have any reason to continue with therapy you will have to gradually stop taking it. If you make sudden quit of using these medication then you may experience symptoms like nausea, vomiting, irritation and agitation.
