Ok, forgive me for being naive but I have an anal issue. For the last few months I have had a bump near but not on my anus. Occasionaly it bleeds and it often itches like crazy.

About every two weeks give or take my butt will start to bleed when wiping but it doesn't seem to come from directly from this bump.

Hemroid cream does't seem to help although it does stop the itching for a brief time.

I drink plenty of liquid and have plenty of fiber every day so I am not sure what it is. Any help that would get me to avoid an embarassing doctor visit would be much appreciated.

I am afraid that you will have to see a doctor about the matter because this bump needs to be looked at to figure out what it is. It is not embarrassing to see a doctor about it, it is natural as if you would go to have your throat checked although the area may be uncomfortable for you but not the doctor. It is his/her job and they do it all the time, you are not an exception.

You didn’t report having unprotected sexual intercourses, so I can’t say if it could be an STD. I suppose not, because if it were herpes bump, it wouldn’t be present all the time although it itches and it could bleed. Herpes symptoms come and go when your immune system is impaired. Human papiloma virus (HPV) a.k.a genital warts are present until you have them removed but they rarely itch, hurt or bleed. Only if they become ulcerated, they could bleed.
Considering you’ve had the bump for quite some time I would say it is some kind of boil or cyst or a hemorrhoid. But to be sure and to take care of it, you need to be looked by a doctor.
