Hi. I am 37 years old. I feel extreme, sharp pain in the back and sometimes I vomit. Yesterday I have noticed some blood in my urine. I think I may have developed kidney stones, and I would like to hear more about kidney stones symptoms. What are my treatment options?

Hi. Sharp pain in the back, or in the lower abdomen, nausea and vomiting, burning sensation during urination, fever, these are all symptoms of kidney stones. I had a kidney stone and, fortunately, there was no need for a surgery. Most kidney stones pass out on their own. I have to drink plenty of water every day and I have to avoid food with added Vitamin D. Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy is a common procedure for the treatment of kidney stones.
