LEEP PROCEDURE-DOES IT HURT

I had an abnormal pap tests showing ASCUS AND POSITIVE FOR HPV.
Had a colposcope and some biopsies which came back nagative. Dr. recommended a LEEP. got 2nd opinion-also recommended a LEEP.

While I am not scared of the procedure, I am terrified of needles. I understand that they numb the cervix with injection. I have also heard that the procedure is very painful.

Would someone please tell me if the injection hurts and also the procedure. I have a very high pain threashhold due to fibromyalgia and arthritis

I had a LEEP a month ago yesterday. I had no bleeding, but discharge for 2 weeks non-stop...from brown, to yellowish-geen, to black. There was spurradic tissue loss also. Some of it was large clumps, but most were small pieces. It had a fowl odor. Then, I had my normally scheduled perioid for 5 days.

I was very pleased not to have any discharge or bleeding for a solid week....THEN, Monday, I started bleeding again. It was like I got another cycle...only 3 weeks early! I called the doc's office to see if there was something wrong. The triage (sp?) nurse said that it was nothing to be concerned about, and should last 24 hours. I'm now about 50 hours into this "new period," and it seems to be getting worse. The bleeding is very heavy...more so than any other period that I have ever had. I'm already anemic, which has never caused any problems before, but now I'm feeling very tired, and falling asleep when I drive to work. I don't know if the 2 are connected, but that's the only thing that I can think of...

If anyone else has experienced this, please let me know...

I had the LEEP 10 days ago. If you're afraid of the shot, just don't look. I felt better about it because I didn't look and just imagined the smallest needle in the world. The shot is less painful than the biopsy, and it's worth it! I did not feel a thing after the injection. My advice is don't look at what the doctor is doing, and take long deep breaths, then just before the injection, talk to the nurse about something that makes you happy, the distraction helps.

I hate to break it to you girls, but yes, the leep hurts A LOT. The numbing procedure did not hurt, however, it also did not work! I felt EVERYTHING. It is my staunch opinion that gynocology as a whole is in the dark ages. Even dentists have laughing gas to ease your worries, we get nothing. Oh and thanks for the pain meds for afterwards! NOT. Ibuprofen does not do anything to ease it. I was in bed all day after in agony after 1000mg of Advil. Sure you can elect surgery and get Percocet (I had breast augmentation 3 years ago) but when you have to have something done related to cancer treatment, you get over the counter crap that doesn't touch the pain.

I will NEVER go through this again. Insist your doctor put you out, it will be worth it even if it costs extra because again, since GYN is in the dark ages, the insurance probably doesn't cover anethesia!!! I know for certain my UHC Golden Rule plan won't pay for a tubiligation. Sure they'll dole out $25000 for me to have a kid, but not $2000 to prevent one. Does this make sense at ALL!?!?!? What a joke. No wonder this earth is over populated and there is more poverty and hungry kids than ever.

I am so disgusted with the whole practice. Millions of women every day are being tortured by being put through midevil practices like leeps. I liken it to female castration. The entire discipline of GYN needs a major overhaul. We should band together and insist on humane treatment!!! hi, i had a leep done 4 days ago. the lidocaine they gave me to numb my cervix was wicked painful!! she said i must have a really sensitive area. she gave me 3 shots of it. the second time it felt like she poked all the way through to my tailbone and i yelled and started crying immediately!! it was really really painful!! the procedure itself did not hurt, but thats probably because she gave me 3 shots of the lidocaine!! i wasn't really having any pain. mostly discomfort. the only time i do have pain is when i cough or sneeze because all the muscles contract. i've been getting the weird brown discharge, but my doctor told me it was going to be milky. i've passed a few pieces that look like left behind scraped off cervix tissue, when i urinate. but today i went to go to the bathroom and on my panty liner was a solid mass a little bigger than the size of a half dollar and the thickness of 4-5 pennies stacked on top of each other. i'm freaking out right now, i do not know if this is normal. all the offices are closed, so i'm waiting for the on call physician to call me back. it's really weird though! and it smells really bad. and now my stomach is really hurting, and i don't know if it is real pain or if my stomach is just all jumbled up because i'm freaking out and stressing out!! please someone tell me if they think this is normal. email me at smooch24@verizon.net. please. i don't know if i can trust these doctors. the whole reason i had to go through this stupid shit is because my doctor missed the fact that last october my pap came back as mild dysplasia. didn't want to monitor me or anything. she just told me everything was fine. i've been trying to get her to give me a pap because i think i may have endometriosis, but she has been refusing all year. I didn't find out about the dysplasia until i finally went to another doctor!! so i finally went to someone else and now i have really severe/advanced dysplasia/pre-cancer cells!! i'm so pissed!! i don't know what to do anymore. but if i do have cancer i'm gonna sue that doc for everything she is worth because this could have been prevented from getting this bad if she had done her job!! i'm 23 years old!! this is ridiculous!! please help!! thank you.

I had a LEEP done today it was not so bad but the shot they gave to numb me was awful as soon as she gave it to me i went numb all over my lips my fingers my toes everything even my ears started buzzing it was freaky it only lasted about 2 minutes but it still was the worst part of the procedure i was wondering if anyone had ever experienced this i told the doctor but she said she had never hear of it made me feel really safe lol
