Laminectomy questions

I had an E.M.G performed because I have a much slower reaction on my left side nerves tested. He recommended that I see a surgeon for a laminectomy. I have severe back pain between c5- c6, with numbness on the left side of my neck, face, shoulder, and arm. When I am eating if I move my head forward it hurts. I have heard that this procedure is common. I am curious is it performed on the front, or back of the neck?

Hello, I didn’t know but I asked around and I’ve been informed that cervical laminectomy is performed from the back of the neck to decompress the spinal canal. However, from the symptoms you describe it is difficult for me understand the reason you were referred for this procedure. Please consult with your Neurosurgeon as planned.
