Posted: 12/20/06 - 23:34 Post subject: Supracervical Hysterectomy performed |
|

I just had a lapersupercervical hysterectomy. The doctor only removed my uterus.
The only pain I felt was from a muscle retracting. I was in the hospital three days because I was anemic and was weak. The doctor thought I would need a blood transfusion, but a hematologists was called in to treat me with infusions of iron.
The only discomfort I feel is from the bloatedness and gas. It's been only a week and I still walk holding my abdomen but it is bearable just uncomfortable.
Because my doctor only did a few laperooscopies, it took 2 hours. However, he did a great job. He even glued my small scar. Most of my discomfort is on the right side because that was where he had to do most of the work....
Evrything feels the same. No problem with my bladder and my uterus was leaning on it. I had a uterus the size of a thirteen week pregnancy. I also had one doctor tell me my cavity was too large to do a laperoscopy, but this new doctor was able to do it.
I also get a burniing feeling from the right sid where the scar is...when I cough or sneeze.
Hope that helps... |

|

I'm scheduled in late May 2007 for LSH and wondered if anyone that is been through LSH can tell me:
How long did it take you to feel 100% again? Is the primary issue fatigue (i.e. in the afternoon)?
I've heard from someone who didn't have LSH that her hysterectomy left her with a huge tummy for months afterwards. Has anyone had this happen? Mine is bigger than normal right now, but I can't stand the thought of looking pregnant when I'm not!
What about unwanted weight gain? Have you had more problems than normal maintaining your normal weight?
Would appreciate your hindsight thoughts.
Thanks! |

Hi I stumbled upon this site while looking for information on LSH. I am a little scared as I will be having the surgery this July 2007. I still have a few more tests to undergo before I have the actual green light. Has anyone had the surgery over the last few months who could share their experience with me?? All of the information and stories I have read on this website have been wonderful!! Thanks to everyone for making me feel some what better about this surgery.
Signed...countdown in San Diego |

| LSH w/ pubo-sling on Monday, July 9 and everything seemed to go very well. I had surgery around 8AM and was home a little after noon. I did take a vicodin in the afternoon and again before I went to bed. Today (Tuesday) I took a couple Ibuprofen. So far a little lower abdominal pressure, but nothing else. Thankfully (at least at this point) I had very minimal pain resulting from the CO2... we'll see if that changes? Glad it's over!! |

I had an LSH on the 10th of July. Mine was done w/the DaVinchi Robotics machines. Anyway, I haven't heard anyone post about how their vagina actually feels after this or about a discharge. There isn't supposed to be anything done vaginally, but I do have a sore area and pain inside (probably cervical is my guess). At first I had a musty smelling discharge, that seems to be going away but today my vagina has felt hot and wierd. Also, I have 4 incisions, one of which is red and hard, but not hot. I am trying to decide if I have a problem with either of these areas! I hate this!!!!

I am going to have Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy in mid Sep.
I have read many info that all of you shared here finding them very helpful. But non of you mentioned about the pre surgery bowel preparationg, I worry about that too, I wonder if that will make me lose energy even before my sugery starts...48 hours clear fluids only, plus Phoshate Solution, sounds like it will make me really weak.
Can any one please share your experiences or tips with me? |

I had an LSH last week at the Pearl Women's Center in Portland, OR. They also perform them in the hospitals, but this was great.
I checked in at 9:15 am and was finished and home by 4pm. My son made me a wonderful chicken and noodle dinner with a salad and dessert, and I ate it all.
The only pain I have experienced is the pain from the lap. openings, and at that, it is very slight. I was really dry and thirsty the first couple of days and I drank a lot of water. I'm taking this week easy, and have been told that I can expect to feel fatigue for a month or two.
Two days after having the LSH, my father-in-law in Denver passed away, and my doctor said I would be fine flying there for the funeral. He said to walk around a bit each hour on the plane, and to wear support hose, only because I'm a bit overweight.
Hope you find a doctor and clinic close to you. Good luck! |

HI I JUST HAD AN APPT WITH A DR WHO SAID HE COULD PERFORM SUPRACERVICAL HYSTERECTOMY, AND REMOVE HALF OF MY UTERUS ALONG WITH THE FIBROID. THE ONLY THING THAT I AM WAITING FOR HIS TO SEE IF MY INSURANCE COVERS THIS. DOES ANYONE KNOW IF GHI COVERS THIS PROCEDURE.... I'M SO NERVOUS IT WON'T AND MAY HAVE TO GET THIS DONE LIKE A C-SECTION INSTEAD OF LAPROSCOPIC.
CAN ANYONE GIVE ME SOME THEIR INPUT.
THANKS
