Late period, heavy bleeding, brown discharge, headaches, nausea, and negative hpt. Help!

My period has never really been entirely regular. It was never really quite irregular either until I had my son. He'll be 10 months old in two days. After giving birth to him, my period was awfully irregular, short, and all of them closer than 28 days apart. My last period seemed to be at least a week late, probably closer to two but it finally came. When it did, the bleeding was heavier than my menstrual cycles have ever been. It was really only comaprable to the bleeding I had DIRECTLY after giving birth to my son. I went through 3 maxis and two super absorbency tampons in about 6-8 hours. Then it calmed down to a normal flow and ended about a week or two ago just like a normal period. Now onto my problem.For the past few days I have been experiencing brown discharge, like old blood. It's fluid, not thick. I've also been getting a lot of headaches the past couple weeks. Normaly this wouldn't be a bad thing I suppose, but it's odd in my case considering I've had less than 10 headaches in my entire life prior to this. Now they seem to be multiple times daily, or at LEAST once a day if I'm lucky. I've also been feeling nauseated on and off. Some day's I'm fine, others I feel so awful that I almost WISH I would get sick just to make the nausea go away. I took a hpt today, and it came up negative. Is there anything else that could be causing all this. I've heard brown discharge might also be the symptom of an infection, though I haven't found out what kind. Is this something I should see the doctor about ASAP, or am I just overreacting to something that's really completely normal?

I have the same exact symptoms, only my period was two months late and my baby is 15 months old. I also have had two negative pregnancy results, and one negative blood test performed by my doctor. My doctor wants to watch and see what happens. This is very abnormal for me so I am very concerned. I forgot to mention that I've had a tubal ligation, so pregnancy is very farfetched.
