Hi, I`m 32 years old and I have a serious, long-term liver problem – hepatitis C. I want to get a complete info about the condition of my liver and my doc told me that I should do liver biopsy. And I was wondering, how will it help me? How it is done? Is it painful? And what after that?

Hi, a liver biopsy is a medical procedure when a small sample of your liver is removed and taken to a lab to be studied. It`s not painful and you will stay in the hospital for some 5 hours after the biopsy. This will help your doc to find out more about your liver condition and will help you to decide about the treatment. How it is done? The doc will give you a local anesthetic and take a small piece of your liver with a needle. After the Liver biopsy is done, you will have to rest for some 2 weeks.
