hi im 19yrs old and i have just recently lost my virginity, let me tell you it wasnt the best thing, gues i expected something more. I did not bleed, is that normal?? It would hurt when he would enter me and i would tel him to stop and then we'd try again and the pain would be minor. Is that meant to happen?. I have take the morning after pill, and had an extreamly bad reaction to it. Can i still get pregnant?? I think i should get onto Birth Control, what are the side effects of taking BC and how long does it take for the pills to start working??

First of all, your experience sounds totally normal. Not all women bleed when they lose their virginity, but some pain or discomfort is normal until you get used to sex. As far as the Morning After pill goes, a lot of people have bad reactions to it because it does some crazy stuff to your body that your body is not used to dealing with. In the future it is EXTREMELY important to use condoms and/or birth control. Unless you are in a long, committed, monogomous relationship use absolutely must use a condom every time you have sex (pregnancy, disease, you've heard it before). If you and your partner are in for the long haul, you should get on birth control pills. The most reported possible side effects are nausea and vomiting, dizziness, headaches, depression, vaginal infections, higher blood pressure, loss of libido, blood clots, stroke, liver tumors (VERY rare), heart attacks, gallstones (VERY rare), jaundice (VERY rare), cervical cancer, spotting and irregular vaginal bleeding, longer periods, amenorrhea, anxiety and nervousness, pain in lower abdominals, increase or decrease in acne, skin rash or darkened patches of skin, appetite changes, weight gain, tender breasts, increase or decrease in hair, vaginal discharge, bone density loss, enlarged ovarian follicles, pain or itching, ectopic pregnancy, and cancer. That being said, most women never experience any of these symptoms while on birth control and only report more regular menstrual cycles, breast enlargement, and decrease in acne. In addition, if you do start to experience one of these side effects, there are hundreds of birth control medications on the market so you need only tell your doctor and they will change your medication to one that will aleviate your problems. Ask any women who are on the pill and they will likely tell you it was a good decision for them. Also, with most pills, you should take them for a complete menstrual cycle before having unprotected sex, but it varies medication to medication, so either speak with your doctor or read the medication information that comes with the prescription. Doctor's orders.
