Have you regained your trust in HRT after these reports?

Hormone replacement therapy acquired a bad name after its use in preventing menopausal symptoms has been linked to increased risk of cancer, heart disease and stroke.

Ever since, there was a big confusion among both doctors and patients in determining if the benefits outweigh the risks and vice versa.
However, scientists report that HRT could be safely taken not for symptoms’ prevention but management. A new study found that HRT could be used for relieving hot flashes, night sweats and mood changes.

New guidelines states that the lowest effective dosage of estrogen-progestin combo could be used for managing moderate to severe symptoms but the safe duration hasn’t been determined yet. Other interesting hints say that lubricants or creams with low amounts of estrogen may help to relieve vaginal symptoms, alternative medicine such as black cohosh, vitamin E or hormones derived from red clover can be taken to relieve mild hot flashes or night sweats, and that women should be guided towards good nutrition and exercising.

However, the new guidance and reports haven’t cleared the doubt especially because the long-term risks and benefits of the therapy haven't been determined.
