I am a 23-year-old male with a small, hard lump, about 1cm in diameter, to the right of my scrotum, directly where my groin and right leg meet. It is not inside the scrotum or on the leg, but between the two. It seems to be attached to the skin. There is no redness or other discoloration, and does not hurt when touched. Any ideas?

Yes, this small lump is most likely a lymph node that has done it's job and collected some small inflamation.

It is likely nothing serious, but it does indicate that your body is fighting some small infection at that point, and the lymph system is processing it away.

The lumps typically will last for a week or two, and are generally not painful, not red, nothing but raised or at least obvious to feel.

Since you describe it as in the groin, not in the scrotum, penis or genitals, it is almost certainly this. One is not uncommon. If you should start to notice others, in the immediate area or running in a line up your body, then it's time to beat it to the doctors for a biopsy and further examination of what's going on.

If you have an appointment already to see the doctor, mention this lump to him so it will be confirmed as a lymph node. But I wouldn't worry at this point, and I would NOT rush to a doctor.

Good luck.
