MARIJUANA AND PREGNANCY?

I don't chose to respond to threads often, especially ones in which the topic has been abandoned in favor of arguing over individuals' beliefs and convictions.

For those of you who are concerned about the negative effects of marijuana on the ability to conceive, just look at a hippy festival. There are plenty of children there. For those of you who are questioning the effects on children as they grow up, examine our schools. Most children who act out are labeled as having ADD or ADHD or some other form of behavioral issue. I work with quite a few children who "suffer" from this and after having met the parents, I can assure you that the children are not suffering from a disorder.

Most children with behavioral issues seem to have _developed_ them due to their parents not instilling any sort of boundaries or rules. The children run the household or else are left to their own devices while the parents are busy with their own lives. Yes, I do believe in attention disorders but also feel that it is a convenient way to dismiss a gross level of ignorance in people today when it comes to how to raise a child.

As a person who is a) at almost a full-term pregnancy with what I am told is a very healthy child b) a responsible 40 + hr. a week employee, and
c) a user of marijuana I feel I can at least say it is all a matter of the lifestyle you chose to have while you smoke. If you want to sit and smoke pot all day and munch down on food that is not only unhealthy for you, but for a developing infant then YES, you will have an unhealthy child.

If you are active and make healthy choices IE: plenty of nutritious foods, sunshine, exercise, etc. you can have a healthy child. Your child will continue to be healthy and develop into a wonderful being if you maintain your own standards in how you raise them. A child is the product of the parenting, you can't expect a child to make proper decisions and turn out to be a well-rounded person based on genetics.

If you do intend to use marijuana while pregnant, there are important things to consider. How was it grown? Were pesticides and chemical fertilizers used? Do you know that it is from a reputable person and therefore able to insure your supply isn't laced with anything? Also, consider the amount you are using. If it is enough to get you through the nausea and discomfort but not so much that you are "stoned stupid", fine. Furthermore, it is possible to bypass the "dangers of carcinogens" by NOT SMOKING. Simply make a tea.

Me & my boyfriend smoked marijuana everyday for over a year i been hanging out with this girl for 2 months n smoked atless 7 blunts a day after all the times i tried getting pregnant it didnt work once i kept smoking so much i got pregnant so i dont understand how weed effects us from getting pregnant lol. I dont smoke anymore obv. but any1 who says " why would u want the father of ya child smoking" it really doesnt matter as long as he isnt doing it around you while pregnant or hurting himself. my doctor said it was perfectly fine. Im 9 weeks pregnant and my babys heart rate is 167 and i smoked weed for 3 weeks everyday because i didnt know i was pregnant. So whatever any body says about it doing damage i dont believe it but i wouldnt risk any kind of chance with my miracle baby.
