I increased from 75 to 150 as your body starts to get used to it, and needs more to have the same effect but I wish Id known about the weight gain- I put on half a stone in six months on 75 an two stone on 150 in 12 months. I actually thought it must be something else because Id been old the stats show that weight gain is not an issue- but its misleading- many people put on weight, and many lose it- so it balances out. Doesnt help knowing it balances out overall when you end up being someone that puts on the weight! Ive never had a weight problem- so I pressumed it was my thyroid- have had a million and one tests in the last 12 months trying to work out the weight gain because Id thought it couldnt be the effexor. Now have the facts- it IS!- and Im seeing my doc Monday and coming off. The problem is it takes a while as the effects of coming off are horrific. Miss one dose and youll see what I mean. Vivid nightmare etc. But need to stop this weight gain- its not worth it- even though I did feel alot better on effexor. I had horrific PMS before- virtually out of action for 10 days before my period. So now need to find something else!
My advice would be that if you start putting it on - dont increase your dosage, start coming off! You could be one of the lucky ones though and dont put it on. Youll know though- if youve had a pretty stable weight before taking it. Cant believe Ive allowed myself to take it for 18 months and put on 2.5 stone in 18 months without putting the two together!
