Hello,
Eight days ago I had Radio Active Iodine to kill my thyroid.
I am now experiencing major depression and mood swings. Is this normal? I have an appointment with my Endo. Dr. 3-4. Also I am having muscle spasms through the roof! I get irritable and angry very easily.
I am not on any type of thyroid replacement as of yet. Will these symptoms go away when medication is started?

I went through this treatment about 15 yrs ago. I also sufferred from the mood swings (big time!) and muscle spasms.
I will explain to you what my endrinconologist explained to me...
When your thyroid is hyperactive your body is so starved it attacks and destroys your muscles. So the muscle spasms are actually your muscles going through a healing process.
The good news is that it DOES go away. At least it did for me. It's been a long time ago since I went through this and I can't remember exactly how long this lasted but I'm thinking it was until I started taking thyroid replacement.
About the depression and mood swings. I was told this was perfectly normal too. My doctor put me on an anti depressent. At first I argued but after being so irratable I couldn't even stand myself, I broke down and took the medication and WOW what a difference it has made.
Hope this helps you.
