Making a Baby Is getting Tricky With a Irregular Month

Me and my husband decided to try to have a baby . We tried one time(last month) so far and i my period came (which usually falls on the 10th) came on the 7th and lasted for about 4days and stopped completely on the 12th but i had pelvic pains and tender breast through out the day. On the 13th later in the afternoon I have spotting. I am trying not to get a pregnancy test since I don't think I am. So is there something else that could be going wrong? Will this spotting count against my ovulation calender? Or do I just need to go to the doctor again?

Tests at the dollar store are only $1 and accurate to 25 hcg. Also, ****Edited By Moderator***** is a great resource.
