It has been found that circumcised men are less likely to receive and transmit HIV virus compared to men with foreskin. The answer may lie in the structure of the foreskin. The inner lining of the foreskin called mucosa is thought to carry cells that are vulnerable to the AIDS virus.
Going through previous analyses, researchers found that circumcision reduced the risk of HIV infection in men by 50% and by 70% in the highest-risk men.
A new study included over 300 couples from Uganda where transmission came from men and showed that 299 women caught HIV from uncircumcised partners and only 44 from circumcised.
Besides reduced risk of HIV transmission, circumcision reduced of catching other sexually-transmitted diseases among which trichomonas and bacterial vaginosis, but not syphilis, gonorrhea or Chlamydia.
Before they start to recommend circumcision, researchers need to confirm their analysis in wider groups but they are almost certain that from every 15 to 60 circumcisions, one case of HIV infection could be prevented
It has been estimated that around 40 million people are infected by HIV virus today and that every year new 5 million cases arise.

Wow, where do u get ur facts from? The study included 1400 circumcised and 1400 uncircumcised men. The study found that 22 of the circumcised men tested HIV positive compared to 27 uncircumcised men. Hardly a difference if you ask me not to mention that no controls or other variables were considered. Oh, and it was paid for by the group of doctors that performs circumcisions - I presume to keep the money rolling in!!
