I just switched to a new shrink today and was told that the use of marijuana has a negative effect on lamictal and actually counteracts what the drug is supposed to do. I have been puffing tough for 11 years daily and the shrink who prescribed it made no mention of this. Can anyone shed light on what is correct? Does my new shrink have a hidden agenda against marijuana?

from what my doctor said it just increases the effects of alcohol. so for me its usually a pint of beer that would get me a lil tipsy, but now its half.
you gotta kinda try it out tho, basically just relearn your limits.
hope that helps.

I am a 16 yr old who is very active in marching band and other musical activities and am in excellent physical shape. I have officially begun the fifth week (100 mg) of taking it and have smoked a little on and off with it since I started taking it. I am getting tested on November 19th so for all I know until they stop testing me after this weekend this should be the last time I smoke pot if not forever for a long time. One thing though is that the cravings have decreased IMMENSELY! I no longer have the same cravings as I used to. The one thing I have noticed is mild to severe depression after smoking while on Lamictal in my case. Although today I am about to go buy some but the thing is I might not smoke it. I feel no need to or reason too. I just went through a terrible break-up and I almost became dependent on marijuana to try to stabilize my moods. IT DOES NOT BY ANY MEANS DO ANYTHING POSITIVE WHILE ON ANTI-DEPRESSANTS OR MEDICINE FOR ANXIETY!!! I am currently off of my anti-depressant/anxiety meds so I can only use that as the reason why I am smoking still. As for getting clean. They sell the lipton green tea and white tea with cranberry and it has added anti-oxidants on top of everything else and drinking three of those a day plus lots of water I believe should get my system clean in time.
