Hey I am a 20 year old male and I was wondering if there are any psychological effects from masturbation. Such things as increased anxiety or depression or anything else related.

For me its the opposite, whenever i get those effects i masturbate, gets my mind off everything, plus it releases dopamine (HAPPY BRAIN CHEMICAL Very Happy)
so yeah, it helps prevent depression *in my opinion*

Have you been taught that masterbation is wrong or dirty? This would maybe explain why you feel depressed.
Other than that, like the person above me said, orgasms should make you feel good.

There is possibly an underlying depression/anxiety problem that you need to see someone about.

Good lukc.

yes, these are very common effects of over-masturbation / over-ejaculation. See my another post in this same forum, external links seems not to be allowed.

"
You can write sexual exhaustion to google and see there are lots of men suffering from this, me including. I´m not saying masturbation or excessive ejaculation is a sin, but something is burned to give these sexual feelings and manufacture the semen. When its all burned out, you just had literally aged prematurely twenty years having terrible symptoms and not feeling very alive any longer.

I do not recommend masturbating to porn to any male, its not worth it. Also, avoiding excessive ejaculation is preferred. At least not more than once every 1-3 weeks.

Here is a chapter from some TCM texts:

"The body must invest a lot of essence and energy to fully replenish semen supplies and re-establish proper hormone balance after a man ejaculates.

When ejaculation frequency exceeds the capacity of the body to fully replenish semen, men experience chronic fatigue, low resistance, irritation and other symptoms of essence and energy deficiency. They also lose all sexual interest in their partners, who may well be ready for more action.

An ejaculation should leave a man feeling as light and refreshed as a woman feels after orgasm- not exhausted, empty and uninterested in further sex.

Every man must establish his own ideal emission rate as an overall guideline, but he must also consider the unique circumstances of each occasion before deciding whether it is appropriate to ejaculate or not.""

John1970, I have already commented on your posts.

It's fine to have your own beliefs but you shouldn't try and force this on other people, yours is a very specific belief and many peope wouldn't agree with it.

People come onto this site for some support, not to have a belief system forced on them.

I, and many people will agree with me, that there is nothing wrong with masturbation and the person who originally posted obviously has some other problems that could be identified by a GP.

It seems John did exactly what you did, posted his knowledge on this. What would make your own information so correct that no one can post otherwise?
It just so happens that recent research has linked over masturbation to fatigue, eye floater and even depression and this isn't my opinion!

In my own opinion i do not understand why Church looks down upon masturbation so much when it has been around far before the formation of that religion within man and has been scientifically proved to be beneficial and healthy if done in small ammounts (a'la no obsessive use of it as too much of anything will cause harm.)

Masturbating too often can cause a slight depression from my experience. if you lessen up on the act of doing so and give your body a few days to regenerate you should notice yourself feeling better. If in-fact you do not (and don't have religious beliefs against masturbation as mentioned above) then your anxiety and depression could be the result of lonliness (if you're single and have been for a while) and/or stress.

Overcoming society's negative stereotypes and one's personal feelings about masturbation can allow men and women the freedom to explore and experience their own sexuality in a private, satisfying manner.
