Hi, I am in lot of pain and doctor prescribed me vicodin. I heard that it is highly addictive, so I would like to know what is the maximal dose I could use without any risk of addicting.

Hello, my husband was experiencing pain after surgery, so the doctor precribed him vicodin, one tablet every four to six hours. At the first time, the drug was very helpful, and he was really satisfied. After a while, he decided that it was not enough, so he started increasing the dose. So finally, when his pain was gone, and when he supposed to stop using vicodin, he couldnt. He was addicted to it. The maximal dose of vicodin is 8 tablets per day, but I really don’t know how much was he taking. Be aware that this is not just a painkiller, this is a narcotic and it takes control of you over night! Vicodin is used to manufacture heroin, and because of that, it is one of the most abused drugs in America.
