Hello

I am wondering if it is possible to get measels after getting all my immunization shots as a kid? I am 24, and grew up in Canada and the shots were mandatory so i am 99.9% sure I had all the shots.

I am in Thailand now, and the doctor here has just told me he thinks I have measels or rubella. I have very tiny red dots/bumbs that form a rash all over my body (sorta look like a bad sunburn from far away). I have a high fever, really sore muscles and a bad headache with very swollen and sore lympthnodes near my ears.

Is it possible that even though I was immunized, the strain in Thailand is different enough that I caught it?

Very Confused,

Nickie

I think YES. I also had my shot of immunization when I was a kid but last August 2002 (I'm 20 back then) my doctor diagnosed me with measles so I have to rest for 2 weeks until I'm ok. Soft diet is needed on my case because there are so much "sort of rashes" inside my mouth that hurts me when I try to swallow solid foods. And due to healed rashes that darkened my skin it took me months to regain my real skin color.
