Hi, if you had an abortion and are considering to have another, you need to learn more about it, because it puts your health at risk. A Medical Abortion uses drugs to stimulate elimination of fetus from the uterus. Medical abortions can be done only early in pregnancy, later it gets more dangerous and increases risk for complications. A combination of drugs is used misoprostol with methotrexate or with mifepristone. Methotrexate disables furthe development of fetus and is used in cancers too. And misoprostol is used to induce the muscles of the uterus to contract, pushing out the contents.

BOTH medical and surgical abortion are equally safe, I work in an abortion clinic and have seen women have 2-3 abortions, and they have 2-3 healthy babies.
Some become pregnant shortly after a birth, because they thought breastfeeding would protect them.
RU-486 is most commonly used now for medical abortion, RU-486 blocks the hormones which cause the fetus to live and grow.
Then another drug, cytotec, causes contractions which expel the fetus.
Surgical abortion takes a shorter amount of time, only 3-5 minutes, whereas Medical Abortion takes hours-days to complete. |
